Getting to Know You
- Preferred name: Kenna
- Major: Kinesiology (Health Professions Concentration)
- Year (i.e., Junior, Senior): Junior
- Graduation date: 2022
- What are your career goals or plans when you graduate?: When I first got into this major, my only thought for career was to become a physical therapist. After learning a couple of years in this major I can now say that I do not want to become a physical therapist. However, I do not know what I want to pursue anymore.
- Which one of the following best describes you as a student?
- I’m working hard to make an A in every course I take.
- I work hard and do the best I can – A’s and B’s are great for me.
- I have a lot of other things going on in my life (e.g., sports, work, family, friends, stressful things) – I don’t have to make A’s and B’s in every course.
- Are you currently working?: Yes, but in mid-February I will be moving on campus to begin practice and will have to stop working.
- Are you in athletics or other activities (choir, club, etc.)? How active are you in this activity this semester?: I am on the acrobatics and tumbling team. As of right now (mid-January) we can not do anything with the school, so all of our workouts/practices are voluntary and self-monitored. However, we have been given a competition schedule beginning in March, and we were told that we will begin official practices in mid-February.
- Please share one or two important/interesting things about yourself.
- I have a hard time with school. I consistently catch myself zoning out or getting easily distracted during lectures, and I have had the bad habit of procrastinating since high school.
- Another set-back for me school-wise is that I have a hard time reaching out for help (from teachers and classmates)
- Give Professor Quiros some advice (e.g., How can he best help you this semester? What makes a good professor? How can this class be most helpful/enjoyable for you?)
- This class would be the most helpful if there were a brief break sometime in the middle, or anything to cut the flow of a full hour and a half long lecture (ex. break out groups). This allows me to have a time to refocus myself.
- How would you like Professor Quiros to pray for you this semester?
- I am not sure right now, but I will edit this question when I can think of something better to put.
